Despite overnight rain showers that cleared away the thick black smoke from the burning tires, the situation on the streets of Beirut remains volatile, clashes continued overnight and the violence continues to escalate.

Shooting resumed across areas in West Beirut early Friday, as well as in the Bekaa.

Future bloc MP Atef Majdalani told the Voice of Lebanon, "Beirut was once occupied by Israel, and today we are witnessing an attempt to occupy it by the Hizbollah militia. Unfortunately, the ongoing battles are not random, but an orchestrated plan to unfold what was called "resistance" was really aimed at controlling the power and decision-taking in Lebanon."

Meanwhile, a large number of trucks were detained at the Lebanese-Syrian border.
