He said: As the Chairman Chairman of the of the Public Works and transportation parliamentary Committee, I am calling on the government to implement an earlier decision to declare Qlei'at Airport - as Airport Rene Muawad international and to inform international organizations immediately.
He concluded: "This airport is ready for action within 24 hours, including the terminal building and it meets the International requirements .

He added : Rafik Hariri Airport will always remain our source of pride, but there is no reason why Lebanon should not have another International airport.
Many political leaders urged the government to be extremely firm and not to yield to Hezbollah under any circumstances and to use if needed water hoses to disperse Hezbollah militants since any attempt to occupy the Beirut airport road could end up like the Hezbollah tent city occupation in downtown Beirut.
