Hajj Khalil ( 44) attacked Prime Minister Fouad Siniora and blamed him for the current crises
The tone of his speech was described by local observers as "defiant and abrasive and unlike Siniora's speech it lacked finesse or diplomacy, typical of Amal and Hezbollah. This is one of the cultural issues that Siniora was referring to in describing Hezbollah "
This is the transcript of the speech
Siniora deactivated the country for over two years, overthrowing the constitution... this is the real coup.
The coup is the... masking of facts... which the Lebanese now know are untrue.
They ask what Hezbollah and Amal are doing in the streets of Beirut... For the last time... Beirut is not the property of one or the other. Beirut is ours; it is theirs, the backbone of the resistance who let you (Siniora) return to your hometown Saida.
The resistance gave up its arms after it entered Beirut to end your rule and decisions, Mr. Siniora.
Today, Mr. Siniora claims that the 2 decisions were not issued by the cabinet, while we all know they were issued and sent to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
Here is a copy of the decree, signed by the cabinet secretary general, with copies sent to Ojero.
Trying to outsmart us by placing the decisions in the army's lap is fraud.
The dialogue that Speaker Nabih Berri proposed, and which you personally agreed on in 2006, consisted of a national-unity government and electoral law... since then, you have tried to turn it into a political battle to remain at the top of the cabinet.
Today, we tell public opinion that ... the content of your words today reveals that you are obstructing a new electoral law, and perpetuate the debate to use the 2000 electoral law.
The 2000 law was called Ghazi Kanaan... today it is your law.
We do not want to terrorize the country, but preserve its constitution and institutions, including the army, which you (Siniora) today attacked and tried to implicate it in what you refuse to shoulder responsibility for.
You should have the guts to implement what the command asked of you an hour ago, and that is to revoke your decisions and return to dialogue with the two issues that remain: the national-unity government and electoral law... crowned with the election of Army Commander General Michel Suleiman as president.
We confirm to our brothers in Beirut that we will withdraw arms from the streets and hand security over to the army, but we will continue our civil disobedience ( pictured tent city ).
We knew that we would pay the price for our resistance to Israel, but not to your republic of oppression.
Lebanon and its capital will remain those of all the Lebanese, so you (Siniora) must give it back to them.
