Around 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, Information Minister Ghazi Aridi said the government would back down on the decisions in accordance with an Army Command's statement, which stated that the military would take control of the probe and would question Chouqair but not reassign him.
"There is no winner in what happened, but there is a loser and that is Lebanon," Aridi stated.
