He was very critical of Hezbollah's use of weapons against the Lebanese people and criticized Hezbollah's conduct
Here are excerpts of what he said during the interview
What we are going through now is more dangerous than everything we went through over the past three years.
Even if the Siniora government made wrong decisions, is what happened over the past four days acceptable?
How are the Lebanese going to see each other, treat each other, after what has happened? After the weapons and destroyed cameras, in front of the whole world?
Even if the decisions are wrong, do we destroy the country because of them?
Where is freedom in Lebanon? Where is the freedom of opinion, of expression? ( this was in reference to the destruction and setting on fire of all the al Mustaqbal ( Future ) TV stations, Newspapers and educational centers ( which were created by former Slain prime minister Rafik Hariri and which sent over 34000 Lebanese people from all religious sects including thousands of Shiites on scholarships to prime universities around the world at a cost of several billion dollars , paid for by Hariri himself)
There will always be political life in Lebanon, no matter what.
The heart of the problem is that they used arms to achieve what they could not achieve any other way.
It is politicians' duties to soften the corners, and this is what happened today. The decisions that the majority inside March 14 make are the decisions we will adopt. But my comments are this: First of all, when the government hands its decisions to the Army Command, no, this is not backing down. When the army decides to keep Brigadier General Shoukair in his position, then it is the army. (In reference to the officer who colluded with Hezbollah and allowed them to spy on the airport , runway no. 17 which is used for high profile foreign visitors who use private jets and key Lebanese politicians
If guns were not pointed at civilians' heads, I would have preferred another (governmental) course of action. But look at Lebanon. Look at Beirut, Halba, Akkar, Saida... Under these conditions, we have to look for the best method.
We have always heard Hezbollah say, 'our arms are for Israel, our arms will not be turned inward.' My sincerest hope is that we can reach an understanding with Hezbollah... this conspiracy idea, that we tricked Hezbollah into using its arms, is useless, and it is not possible, nor was it ever an option.
