The following is a brief outline of what he told the press

"We had a productive meeting with the delegation ... I was honest and open with them. We reject everything that happened. What happened is unacceptable by all standards.

First of all, the situation in Beirut has to go back to normal. No dialogue can happen under threats or gunpoint ... I would hope this dialogue will take place in Lebanon, with all my due respect and gratitude and thanks to Qatar for its generous suggestion to have it held in Doha . But this is an inter-Lebanese situation and should take place in Lebanon.

There is a priority which we have to take into consideration, and that is ... Hezbollah's relation with the Lebanese government. Where are its limits? ... Where can it function?

Regarding the two cabinet decisions, the cabinet handed them over to the Army Command, and the army issued a statement. It said that it would keep Brigadier General Wafiq Chouqair in his position ... This is over, so why are people still raising the issue?

We raised the issue with the UN because of resolutions 1559 and 1701.

Speaker Nabih Berri cannot limit dialogue to the national-unity government and electoral law ... If they want to limit the dialogue to their concerns, we will not attend. What about our concerns ... what about the 70 people who died? What about the Hezbollah weapons in the streets that were pointed at the Lebanese citizens ?"
