Raad, who is representing Hezbollah at inter-Lebanese roundtable talks in Qatar, has said the resistance and its arms are not open to discussion.

"In Beirut they pledged to stop the escalation and through the media on mistrust, but we are back to this issue this morning," Fatfat told NOW Lebanon.

"If they do not want a political solution then they should bear this responsibility alone ... If they want to isolate themselves, that is up to them," Fatfat commented.

"The Beirut Declaration is clear on this subject, and we certainly will not back down."

"We are still trying to reach an agreement, but this agreement will be meaningless if the Lebanese people do not find it meaningful," he added.

"All the topics that were agreed on in Beirut were raised here," Fatfat said in reference to the national-unity government and electoral law.

"But there are three other subjects: the end of arms-use to achieve political gains, the end of threatening and betrayal campaigns, which unfortunately were not discussed. The third point, most importantly, is the fifth item on the agenda, which deals with starting a dialogue seriously."

"I say seriously because it must be continued in Beirut in earnest until completed," he noted.

"The seventh item of the Beirut declaration confirms that all items are equally important, so all these things are priorities."
