Implementing the accord would ensure coexistence and civil peace, he added.
In a statement released on Friday, Sheikh Hassan ( pictured) said "the immediate implementation of the Doha dialogue will break the vicious cycle that Lebanon has been stuck in for several months," starting with the election of General Michel Suleiman, "who commanded the army in the hardest of times," as the next president.
Sheikh Hassan thanked Qatar and the Arab League on the great efforts they made to allow this agreement to be reached.
Sheikh Hassan also called Army Commander Suleiman, Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Qabbani and Deputy President of the Higher Islamic Shiite Council Abed Al-Amir Qabalan to congratulate them.
