"We are ahead of a crucial three weeks and our opponents, although they are members of parliament, they have other methods to deal with us (assassinations)."

"Three weeks ago we lost a partner (Antoine Ghanem) in the majority ... We were 69 then, now we are 68. If they can kill 4 more of us, we will be reduced as a majority, and we will not be able to vote for a free president that will abide by international law and resolutions."

"It is impossible to have good security in Lebanon, we are hiding in our rooms. Most of the MPs are in an annex of the Phoenecia hotel, they are not even able to open the windows because of possible sniping."

When asked "who is behind these assassinations", Jumblatt responded "Syria and its allies Hezbollah. I have no doubt about it. The tribunal will give its verdict next year, but until next year it is quite a long time, anything can happen."

Bashar al-Assad Needs to be Afraid Again

bashar%20-%20hafez%20assad%20front.jpg"As long as Bashar al-Assad in Syria feels secure, as long as there are no military or economic sanctions against him, he will just go along in Lebanon killing us one by one. As long as we have this tyrant, this butcher in Damascus alive, we will never have a stable democracy in Lebanon, we will not be able to have an independent and free Lebanon. this is why I am asking for effective sanctions against this regime. Bashar al-Assad was afraid in 2005 when President Bush, Chirac and the international community ordered him out of Lebanon - now he is no longer afraid. We need him to be afraid again."

"Our opponents have a private army in Lebanon, private security, they have weapons provided by the Syrian regime and Tehran, while we have international solutions, we are not asking for military help, we are not asking for military bases, they already have military bases in Lebanon - an Iranian and Syrian military base, and they are behind the assassinations."

"Emile Lahoud is just a puppet of the Syrians and the Iranians. When we dared to say no to the unconstitutional renewal of his presidency in 2004, the killings started, and haven't stopped since."

"We've got to stay alive, survive the next few weeks, and if we are still alive and still the majority, we can elect one of us that will abide by international law, and also abide by the international tribunal of justice, that will one day bring the murders, bring Bashar al-Assad to trial."

Assad Family Have a Track Record of Murdering Opposition

Copy of kamal jumblatt.jpg"Bashar al-Assad is the son of Hafez al-Assad, the man who killed my father, so they have quite the track record in killing their opponents. My father was killed in 1977, unfortunately at that time Lebanon was divided, I was obliged to make a deal with the devil - Hafez al-Assad - so I know the family, I know the regime, so they can not deny having something to do with the crimes in Lebanon."

"Now Lebanon is united, but the allies of Syria are not with us, they are supporting the regime of Syria, supporting the regime of murderers, we can do nothing."

"Jumblatt rejected Hassan Nasrallah's allegations that Israel was behind the political assassinations in Lebanon: "that's the biggest joke that I've ever heard - as if the Syrians are hiring the Israelis to kill us. We oppose Syrian occupation, I don't see why the Israelis would kill us.

Hezbollah Acting as an Indirect Occupier of Lebanon

nasrallah%20-%20giant%20screen.jpg"The Lebanese Syrian border should be secured by the Lebanese army with international observers - without that Lebanon will just be a base to launch more hostilities against Israel and reprisals from the Israelis."

"The Syrians don't need to have their military or intelligence in Lebanon as long as they have their unofficial brigade in Lebanon - Hezbollah. This alliance between Iran, Syria and Lebanon (Hezbollah) has been an indirect occupation."
