
Chidiac ( right) made the announcement during a press conference at the American University of Beirut alumni association center in the presence of Baabda MP Pierre Dakkash and other prominent Lebanese.
Chidiac lost the elections for an MP position in the Baabda area in 2005
Chidiac called for friendly relations with Syria. He suggested evaluation and correction of the causes behind the deterioration in the relationship.
Chidiac said he strongly supports Speaker Nabih Berri's initiative .

Chidiac is the founder and current president of the Republican Reform Party . He formed the party in 2003.
The principal goal of the Republican Reform Party is to create a western style democracy in Lebanon.
Graduated with a BA in political science from the American University of Beirut in 1962 and with an MA from the University of Hawaii in 1964.
Chidiac started his political activity when he was a student at the American University of Beirut where he formed the Lebanese Students Association in 1957 . In 1964 he organized the National Liberal party. In 1987 he founded with a group of Lebanese Americans a Lebanese lobby in Washington D.C. for defending Lebanese rights
Born in Beirut, he is married , has 4 children and 3 grandchildren
