Aoun thinks that Kanaan could also have been murdered and used as a scapegoat to cover up Syria's involvement in the planning and execution of Hariri' murder.
Aoun also doubts the caller to Voice of Lebanon is Kanaan. He said that someone else with similar voice could have called the radio station.
As Ya Libnan reported earlier, Kanaan's interview with VOL sounded more like a speech than a question and answer session. He sounded as if he was reading all what he was saying. His last sentence was: I will not call any other channel with this information and named all the Lebanese channels. He went on to say " this is the last you will hear from me" I will not be calling again.

Aoun suggested the following if Syria was found guilty in Mehlis' Report:
1- An autopsy should be performed by the UN to determine the cause of Kanaan's death.
2- An expert voice analyst should study Kanaan's taped conversation to determine the authenticity of the interview.
The most recent report about Kanaan's suicide revealed that he shot himself in his mouth.
One analyst thinks that a gun could have been pointed at his head when he was conducting the interview with VOL
Syria's President Bashar Al Assad denied any wrongdoing during his CNN interview that was aired at 7:30 GMT. He spoke in English most of the time except when he felt more comfortable to speak in his native Arabic.
Many thought he did not look presidential and appeared too nervous for a head of state. On the other hand he joked when asked if he is in control by saying "some accuse me of being a dictator and some accuse me of not being in charge. I can't be both."
