The above results represent a big victory for the Pro-Syrian Shiite political alliances.

The United States considers Hezbollah a terrorist organization and has called for its disarmament in line with a U.N. Security Council resolution 1559. Hezbollah has refused, backed by the Lebanese government, which argues that the militants are a legitimate resistance movement, resisting Israel's occupation of Sheeba border area .

Hezbollah increased its legislators in south Lebanon from four to five. Hezbollah also won a seat in Beirut in alliance with Saad Hariri in the first round of Lebanon's elections, which started on May 29.

The parliamentary elections, will be held this coming Sunday the 12th in The Mount Lebanon Region and the Bekaa Valley. The elections will be completed on Sunday 19th.

After polls closed Sunday night, hundreds of Hezbollah and Amal supporters drove through the streets of Beirut, waving their banners in celebration.

As we write this report in Beirut on Monday evening, celebrations continue. Fireworks are being heard all over Beirut.
