Lebanon army confirms identity of beheaded soldier

Lebanon’s military says it has identified the remains of a soldier beheaded by Islamic militants.

The army said Wednesday that DNA tests confirmed the body is that of Sgt. Ali Sayid. The soldier was decapitated by militants of the Islamic State group, according to photos posted on social networks on August 28.

His body was handed over to military officials on Monday after negotiations with the militants.

Sayid disappeared from Lebanon around the time militants from Syria attacked the Lebanese border town of Arsal in early August, killing and kidnapping soldiers and police.

The militants included fighters from the Islamic State group and the al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front, and the incursion was the most serious spillover of violence into Lebanon from Syria’s civil war.

Families have demonstrated throughout Lebanon demanding the captives’ release.

  1. I send my condolences to the family of Ali al-Sayyed. I hope that the rest of the soldiers would be released healthy.
I am from Israel and I don’t think that the Lebanese Army is doing enough to release the soldiers who are held by these crazy people the ISIS.
It is about time for all the countries in the region, including Israel and Lebanon, and to hit ISIS really hard. This is a top priority problem and every day people are losing their life in such a brutal and cruel way. Just looking at the picture of the soldier makes me sad thinking about his last moments in life. I hope that ISIS would be the last problem in the middle east and from then onward we would have peace between us.

I couldn’t agree with you more.. you’re a man of peace and I hope many will seek peace and we put wars behind us.. have a blessed day Bro..

    3. Thanks for a nice note Alon. please know that some of us have our own mind and our own heart and need no permission by those who refuse peace to be at peace with you and other peaceful people from all sides TODAY! peaceful people from all sects and nationalities are repulsed by the undesirables making the headlines, everything in life has an ending and so will their evil momentum come to an end.

I consider “palestinians” more of an enemy than Israel. Israel has its position and doesn’t change. the Palestinian came here as a guest . killed my people Christians , shia, druze , and even there own sunni . they flip sides easily. one min they are eating out of irans hands . using Iranian missles and Syrian missiles. the next hamas is against the same al assad that helped them . screw hamas , screw the Palestinians . they have no honor . they will join isis in a heartbeat if it benefits them . I am no fan of hizballah but I tell hizballah beware of the Palestinians they are worse than pigs.

      1. It is not the palestinian that killed the Christian. It is you the christian if you are (because I am ). that killed.them. You the christian, that you had a golden opportunity to build a country back in the 70’s. .What you have done instead, you created multiple militia ( ahrar, tadamon, ouete, kgb)and you begin to kill each other. It was Chamoun , who allowed the palestinian camp to get arms. Camile Chamoun( was a christian) btw.

So stop blamming the palestinian. You as a christian have dirty blood from quarnatina to sabra and chatila. Sorry man but you need to know the truth

Lots of times or should I say most of the times religion is MIS-USED. No religion promotes nor spreads hate and murder. Most of the time it’s the so called “leaders” that stray away, make bad choices. Call it human error or just plain stupidity but its the lack of humanity these days. Everybody wants power, everyone wants to be in control, everybody wants land. Leaders making false promises. Christians, druze, shia, sunni, jews, catholics….everyone is paying a very high price for this stupidity. Blame the ones that are using religion as a tool.

@Lebanon101 Screw you too, same to you.
I read your previous comments, same ignorance of Middle East history as the Khazar, theyhave no historic or Genetics
links to the Middle-East, they have Slavic genetics.
Khazar founded the Zionist Movement, it has nothing
to do with the Bible. Anti-Semitic was a term born in
Europe 18th century not in the ME, Zionism is only
a hundred years (as was Wahhabism BTW) they are
allies. Jews who reject Zionism are called “self-hating”

Ignorant are the greatest haters we have ISIS as
example, and you use Exactly the same talking points,
you couldn’t have invented them they are nowhere else
in History. They derive from the “Jewish Agency” Motto
in WW2 “A land without people for a people without land”.
        You’re a false flag.

I read -“Whats Palestine? a name of a geographical
off the Jews). The Romans came after the Greek they
didn’t invent the name Palestine to piss off the Jews.
Palestine was on the maps, first Greek historian
Herodotus 500BC describes Palestine in his book
        Ancient History.
There was never any map called Israel except in the
Bible. Israel is the name of Jacob..God changed his
        name to Israel..humm.

Church in Arabic is ‘Knisseh’, which means
(a place of gathering), as the “Israeli Knesset”.
First Christians gathered in Knesset as you
see Palestinians were Jews before Christ, other
remained Jews or Christians or became Moslems
The first to embrace Islam in Arabia were Jews.
Palestinians have more similarity with Sephardim
        DNA Jews than Khazar.
(BTW. ISIS 2nd in command is also a Khazar0.

When you call Palestinians “Salafists, ISIS, pigs,
is acceptable to AIPAC.. adding “fuck Palestine,
fuck Israel” can fool others not me.
Hamas didn’t exist before the Eighties

RIP dear Lebanese soldier, you were courageous and brave defending your country and people with your blood, the whole of Lebanon bows their head to you.

You are a shining star in the sky now living in Gods heaven and cradled by the angels.

You will always be remembered as the bravest of the brave and I salute you.
I send my sincere condolences to the family of Ali al Sayyed and to every Lebanese citizen for their great loss of a heroic soldier.

You will never be forgotten and you will always be in our heart and mind.

  3. This disassociation tactic is not working… It is time for the Lebanese army to go on the offensive.

At least right up to the ‘border’.

This bit from BBC … interesting …
“Residents in the northern province of Kirkuk said IS fighters had kidnapped dozens of men on Thursday, dragging them into cars in the town of Hawija before driving off.
Locals said it was unclear why the men had been taken, saying IS had taken over the Sunni town without encountering any resistance last month.
IS militants were said to have retreated from the village on Wednesday and residents were reported to have set fire to a flag left behind by the group.”

I think they are needing to ‘recruit’ fast …. ;-))
‘Oh, we didn’t cause them any trouble … and we are Sunni … why would they take OUR men?’

  4. $89733098 Avatar

This guy’s opinion is exactly the same as mine.

“I’m going to stand with the Arab world and reject Patrick Cockburn. Other lefties can do as they see fit. But I don’t embrace racism, sexism, xenophobia or homophobia.

    Cockburn hates Sunnis.

Danny’s so eager to be in the circle jerk, he quotes Cockburn’s xenophobia without even realizing it.

The main victor in the new war in Iraq is the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isis) which wants to kill Shia rather than negotiate with them.

    Is that right, Patrick?

This group of Sunnis (a group you tend to lump all Sunni resistance into) is doing something novel, are they?

You really never did call out the Shia, did you, Patrick?

In fact, long before Moqtada al-Sadr found leadership skills and maturity, when he was a bit of a thug and headed a violent militia, Patrick wrote a book glorifying him.

No real concern over Shi’ites targeting Sunnis. No real concern over a group that ‘wants to kill Sunni rather than negotiate with them.’

Nouri al-Maliki, Patrick’s personal cum rag, targeted Sunnis repeatedly and Patrick didn’t decry it. Nor did Danny Schechter.”

  5. Guys, thanks for your warm words. It just shows that at the end we have the same values.
As an Israeli, I wish you (the Lebanese) to get back the peace in your country and to be again “The Paris of the Middle East” as you were before.

Just few words, I know that few of you think that we (the Israelis) want to harm the Palestinians, but I would like to say that it is the opposite. We are all the time seeking to avoid using force but we sometimes do not have other choice as we’ve been pushed to the corner. If you walk in the street of Israel, you would see many Arabs here go freely and happily and it makes us wonder where those lies of us being “a state of Apartheid” comes from. In the hospitals we have here Arabs doctors and patients side-by-side with us. My best friend from my first degree was an Arab and I used to go to his village on my scooter to teach him. When he was killed in a car accident, his mom called me first to give the bad news.
Trust me guys, we want to live with you in peace and visit each other. We have here a population of Christian Lebanese who we all love and I hope that all of you one day could come visit us as friends.

    1. sweetvirgo Avatar

Very nice of you to extend your wishes. Hopefully one day there will be peace throughout the middle east. I have visited Israel. I stayed in Hafia iwth my cousins in laws. It was beautiful visiting all the holy places.
