3 Syrians arrested over the Baabda rocket attack

Military Prosecutor Judge Saqr Saqr ordered on Saturday the arrest of three Syrian suspects over their alleged involvement in the launching of rockets towards Baabda on August 1.

“Saqr ordered the arrest of three Syrian suspects over the Baabda rocket launching case,” National News Agency reported.

The NNA added that the suspects were referred to Military Examining Magistrate Fadi Sawwan for prosecution.

President Michel Suleiman criticized Hezbollah’s role in the Syrian civil war during a speech on August 1 marking the 68th Army day. His speech was followed by a rocket attack that targeted the Baabda presidential palace and the Army headquarters .

One of the rockets landed within the security perimeter of the Presidential Palace and the other within the security perimeter of the Army headquarters .

Hezbollah is closely allied with the Syrian regime in its crackdown against the the mostly Sunni rebels who are trying to overthrow the 40 year old dictatorship
