Syria crisis: Lebanon counting on World bank for aid

Share:

The World Bank president says his staff is doing a rush assessment of the impact of the Syrian conflict on Lebanon to prepare the ground for a new wave of international aid.

Jim Kim told The Associated Press in an interview on Tuesday that the Lebanese government asked for the quick assessment and the World Bank made a “very intensive effort” to get it done in a few weeks. It will be presented during a Sept. 25 meeting of an international support group for Lebanon at the United Nations General Assembly later this month.

Lebanon is hoping the assessment will underpin its request for aid from individual donor countries and international agencies. It will look at the impact of the conflict on tourism, trade, health, education and Lebanese citizens.

  1. World Bank gives Loan not aid. And that Loan is usually huge and have a lot of condition plus interest on top. The IMF will decide on how that money will be used. They will set a project and then they will send their preferred companies to carry out the project. That project can be useless for the local people and there might be more important project where the money can be used but IMF will put a restriction.

When the project was done ,the IMF nominated companies will use up most of the sanctioned money and the Local political leaders will get a share too but the country will be enslaved by IMF with a huge amount of debt. Now the age old money changer comes out with its ugly head asking for the principal with interest. The bankrupt government cant pay and the money changers eye on the natural resources of the country. They take over the resources and explore it , then sell it to the local population with high price. Its a game of those chosen parasites who have been doing this “usury” business.
