Over 1,000 Syrians fled to Turkey after bakery bombing

More than 1,000 Syrians crossed into Turkey in the last 24 hours after the Syrian regime attacked a bakery in the town of Halfeya, a Turkish foreign ministry official said on Wednesday.

“1,100 Syrians, mostly women and children, fled to Turkey in the last 24 hours through a border crossing in the town of Reyhanli,” the official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

The latest influx triggered by the bakery attack in Syria has brought the total number of Syrians in Turkey to 148,000, he added.

At least 60 people are reported to have been killed in a regime air strike on a bakery in the rebel-held town of Halfaya, in the central province of Hama on Sunday.

Turkey is home to refugees fleeing the 21-month conflict in neighbouring Syria as well as army defectors who are sheltered in several camps along the 960-kilometre (560-mile) border.

Ankara fell out with its one-time ally after the regime unleashed a deadly crackdown on protests in March last year, and has joined in Arab and Western calls for the ouster of President Bashar al-Assad.

  1. The U.S. marines are on their way… Russians moved more battleships in to protect the despot… Time to bomb him into oblivion.

    1. russians and marines are like taking  a guy with a broken leg to a dentist!

my assessment is that the whole middle east culture is a total  a right off for allways standing by smoking argili  when these events take place without lifting a finger or taking any risk on their own, untill pictures like this result in massive  protests equal to burning of a quoran that easily can be reptrinted,,, this region and its self rightous values belong in the toilet.

I can not imagine anything more evil that happened this year than the kiilling of children  in  a school and a fighter jet locking  its target on a line up for bread….vomit

      1. May I add… Puke?

        1. Hannibal , lets do it this way,
warm coke mixed with bacon, a stick of butter, half a cup of crisco, half a bowl of cold gravy, 2 frozen uncooked eggs, raw chicken liver… mixed together in a blender for 25 seconds… cheers and lets barf together on a count to three 🙂

Not that the Syrian regime would not do it(they have conducted airstrikes on civilians and on military opposition targets) but there is no evidence of any air strike on this area. All videos and pictures published by both the regime and the opposition shows victims and injured people laying on the ground in a wide area.Little damage compared to what one expects after an air strike. One can also notice the number of military uniforms, and Armed militiamen running around helping victims and injured people  who ,many of them , happened to be dressed in military uniforms.
More details are coming out of the area indicating that more than 20 bodies have yet to be identified. This is very strange that in a small town, 20 residents are not identified to be residents of the town, or even Syrians. I don’t have any evidence that these were foreign fighters, but rumors are circulating that they were.
It seems to me that some thing fishy happened at this bakery, Many armed men were killed, and many innocent people were killed for no reason. What ever happened at this bakery, some people are exploiting this story, and trying to gain some political  advantage through a non supported claim that Assad air force targeted this bakery in order to kill civilians, when the evidence does not support that claim. one day we’ll hear the true story on what happened there.
whether one supports the opposition or not, one should not accept propaganda news .
Before Anyone starts attacking me, please provide me with evidence supporting the opposition claim that it was an airstrike  strictly targeting civilians buying bread for their families, and I will humbly apologize…. I simply don’t trust any News media anymore.

    3. greetings Prophet,

for the most part news medias are not trust worthy, just as all the partakers  religious or political are not trust worthy either….the core of the problem is the bias that exists in media and people of the middle east that  has become a desensitizing component that makes us less feeling and callus to others we dont agree with in one way or another.

too often we micro manage  the political details and history for jusifications for violence and fail to agree on one standard or agree on  setting the bar and NOT keep moving it on a need to basis. my big gripe whether in lebanon, syria, israel or anywhere in the region is that we so profess to be religious and godly yet we dont ask where god stands on the issue of life and sacredness of blood!

no one is held accountable and brought to justice in a climate and culture that changes the subject and blames and scapegoats others with conspirecy theories in the intrest of protecting and sanitizing killers rather than being honest about it and admit that we use multiple standards in our views  instead of only one .

geo, Good day.I totally agree with your assessment of the media, but the problem is that we rely on this same media for information and news, and therefor we have no choice but to fall in the trap.
As for micro managing details, We do so because there is so much  misinformation planted purposely to influence our views, and one has to sort out truth from propaganda, but you make a good point;that by getting into details, we get trapped, and divert our discussion into meaningless subjects.I do blame Hannibal for bringing out  this side of me. lol.
One thing I assure you of is that there is no justification for violence against innocent people anywhere. As for the region being religious,it is a hypocrisy. They are all sectarian  with twisted views of what God is or what He demands of us.They invoke God and religion when it suits them, each group claims exclusive knowledge of what God wants.

        1. God wants a ferrari enzo and he wants ME to drive it for him,,, lol just kidding  but you are right.

how about we start the yistiflo party and  enjoy peace among each other  being free from all the worthless causes that render our time here  worthless, I vote for double espresso, katherine jenkins singing, a toucan on my shoulder and a couple of drinks with dab.. if he is still alive 🙂

          peace
