The decision for referring the assassination of Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau head Brigadier General Wissam al-Hassan to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon is up to the United Nations Security Council, STL spokesman Marten Youssef told As Safir newspaper in remarks published on Tuesday.

If the United Nations Security Council decides to refer this crime or any other crime to the STL then it will handle it , Youssef said.

Youssef pointed out that the work of the STL is ongoing.

This crime will give STL a strong hand in ending terrorism that aims to destabilize Lebanon, Youssef stressed.

Several March 14 officials demanded referring the assassination of Hassan to STL, but the Hezbollah led March 8 alliance rejected the idea.

  1. why do we always have to run to the un for everything? what has the un done for us? weve payed millions since 2005 and received nothing in return? how about we start by investigating those closest to him? this is a man that few knew of his movements including as claimed by rifi that even he didnt know his movements? you would think by now that we would be able to at least do something for ourselves???
