Iran blasts Turkey, Saudi, Qatar over ally Syria

A top military aide to supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Saturday accused Ankara, Riyadh and Doha of serving US and Israeli interests in Syria, in a veiled warning to Turkey of worsening ties.

“The Americans, Israelis, and some European and Persian Gulf nations, in particular Qatar and Saudi Arabia, have delegated to Turkey the task of achieving their goal to weaken or topple Bashar al-Assad’s government or make it surrender,” Fars news agency reported General Yahya Rahim Safavi as saying.

“Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey are acting in the interests of the US and the Zionists to weaken the resistance axis comprising Iran, Syria and Hezbollah,” said the former Revolutionary Guards commander.

He was referring to the Shiite armed militia in Syria’s neighbour Lebanon, dubbed by Tehran’s nemesis Washington as a terrorist organisation.

Syria, whose government is Tehran’s key Middle East ally, has been engulfed in a 15-month crisis in which the United Nations says more than 10,000 people have been killed. Syrian activists put the death toll at more than 13,000.

Calling Turkey “a strategic competitor of Iran,” Rahim Safavi said that Iran-Turkey relations are still “good.”

But in in a veiled warning, he added: “We hope that America and the Zionists will not be able to disrupt relations” between Tehran and Ankara.

      This guy is more concern about the natural resources in Lebanon including the Poppy cultivation on the Beqaa Valley . He knows that once Bashar is gone the rug under the feet Persian terrorist in Lebanon will disappear. So he is very much concerned but unable to express the truth so he rather beat around the bush by playing the Anti Israeli card. For the last 50 years these so called resistance couldnt secure an inch land in Palestine rather it invaded Lebanon and install its puppet in Syria and Lebanon. He feels the wind of change and he is not comfortable ….

    Again, those “Zionist Conspiracy” baseless theories. If you read PressTV site you can laugh, they accuse “The Jews” or “The Zionists” in every problem they have, even with their wives and kids. Turkey is very hostile to Israel for the last 3-4 years. Saudi Arabia is not a great friend of Israel as well. 

    This Alawite-Sunni conflict is a chess game between Sunni powers (Turkey, Saudi Arabia) to Shiite powers (Iran, Iraq), on the back of ordinary Syrians. It drags reluctant US, EU, Russia and China (all of them don’t really need or want this headache). 

    Israel in this regard is no more than a neighbour – worried, grudging – but neutral.

      Let me remind you, the people of Syria have NOT started this uprising because Assad is an Alawite, but because he is a dictator just as Mubarak was a dictator. Very simple ya3ni, but it doesnt surprise me that you dont get it.

        I never saw anyone blaming Iran or the Shiites in any internal Israeli matters. Thee only accusations I’ve heard are involvement of Iran & Hizbullah in arming Hamas & Jihad and in assisting suicide bombing. 

        I guess you’re right saying that the uprising started because Assad was a dictator, not because of his religion. Yet, it seems both Sunni and Shiite foreign powers abuse the situation and conduct a proxi war on the back of the Syrians. 

        BTW – Kenaani is also a Hebrew word. Israel is also called – “The Land of Knaan” – Eretz Cnaan

    The greatest tragedy is the stupidity of these nations who believe that by serving the USISRAEL empire and killing fellow Moslems, they can save their own skins.   In fact, they are hastening their own demise.  Do they really think that America and Israel are fond of the Wahabbis, the pretentious Turks, and the irrelevant Qataris?  Think again!

      I don’t know where are you from, but I tasted the Assad’s politics and shelling in Lebanon way back since 70s even before th Iranian revolution and Hezbollah existence. I will support anyone who take Assad and his allies out of Lebanon for good.
